Tourism is the number one industry in Southwest Florida.  In 1991, The Naples Visitors Bureau was created to enhance tourism locally.  The bureau's goal is to develop and expand Naples' image as an upscale domestic and international destination.  The Conde Nast Traveler and Travel and Leisure magazines have selected The Ritz Carlton/Naples and The Ritz Carlton Golf Resort among the top travel destinations worldwide.  The Registry Resort consistently ranks in the top 50 worldwide.  Business is booming as well.  Structured planning, a low tax base, and certification as a Florida Blue Chip community contribute to Naples' economy.  The Economic Development Council (EDC), a catalyst between enterprise and county government, has predicted double digit annual business growth.
